Inspiration of the week – I’M POSSIBLE

Sometimes the challenges in our lives can make us doubt whether our dreams can really come true.  When you have a dream or a goal, many obstacles will come your way to test your resolve.  If you approach those obstacles with an unwavering attitude, you will breakthrough and turn impossible to I’M POSSIBLE.

A quick story

Five years ago, I made a decision that changed my life. I decided to live according to my core values. At that time, I was overworked, overwhelmed, and exhausted, none of which I valued. I didn’t want to live like that anymore. I wanted to be in a position where I could wake up every morning, and be free to choose how I spent my day.

Soon after setting that goal, I revamped my private Optometry practice model. I canceled contracts with insurance plans that caused me to lose 80% of my patients. I went from seeing 20 patients per day to 4 per day. I don’t need to tell you how that affected my bottom line. But when you have a dream, you have to be willing to pay the price.

I realized that if I wanted to live life on my own terms, I would have to make drastic decisions. So, in addition to the insurance changes, I hired an associate doctor to work three days a week in my practice.  Technically, I couldn’t afford it. My patient load was down and my revenue was down. But I soon learned that doing it and affording it were two different things.

Adding an associate, freed me up to focus on rebuilding the practice. This did not make any logical sense, but I knew that in order to reach my goal, I would have to defy logic. I would have to believe.

Impossible to I’M POSSIBLE!

Five years later, I am privileged to wake up each day and chose how I want to spend my day.  This was an impossible dream, and frankly, it still feels impossible even as I’m living it. However, this experience has taught me that nothing is impossible. If you hold steadfast to the vision, you too will be able to change impossible to I’M POSSIBLE!

Hold on to your dreams and never waver. When circumstances or people tell you that “this is not possible”, dig your feet in the ground of your vision and look at them with resolute confidence and say, I’M POSSIBLE!!!

The New “Million Dollar” Practice

The new “Million Dollar” practice is about living life on your own terms. In less than 1 year, I went from working 6 days a week, to working 1 half-day per week. It was a bold and crazy move. From the outside, it looked like I had lost my mind. But the fact was quite contrary, for the first time in a long time, I had actually found it. I had reach my $1,000,000 practice goal in my own way. I was working less and I was making more money doing what I love.
