Diva of the week – Kristin Bever, O.D.

1. Tell us a little bit about you.

I was born and raised in Longwood, FL. I am married and have a 1 year old son, Daniel. We also have two dogs, Lulu and vegas. I enjoy taking walks around the neighborhood with Daniel, shopping, and yoga.

2. What made you decide to become an Optometrist?

I always knew I wanted to help people and be in the medical field. When I was 16 I had my first eye exam and got glasses. My Optometrist was a young woman and she inspired me. I then followed an OD in college and decided that was the field that I wanted to be in.

Nova Southeastern University School of Optometry

Primera Eye Care – Lake Mary, FL

Primary Care Optometric Services

6. Name 1 to 3 hurdles you personally faced in your career and how did you overcome them?

Working through optometry school. I was one of the few student in my class to work full time throughout school. I did this to minimize my student loans and be able to afford to live. Although it was a challenge at times, I learned a lot that has helped me in my career today. I worked in the hospitality industry so I learned to multi-task and many aspects of customer service and management

7. If you could go back to when you were a student, what advice would you give yourself?

To enjoy every minute of it. Optometry school were some great years. I learned a lot and made lifelong friends.
