Read the feature to learn why Adriana believes that whatever thing she puts her mind to, she will be able to achieve it!

1. Tell us a little bit about you

My name is Adriana Appiagyei Nsiah Nimo a Ghanaian 2nd year student and a first generation professional in my family.

Out of a family of six, I am the first to get the opportunity to further my education to an extreme outstanding level and I feel privileged to be pursuing my Doctor of Optometry degree in the best University in Ghana;KNUST.

One Unique thing I like about myself is the fact that I am always poised to achieve more and not to let any obstacle deter me from reaching my goals.

I believe that whatever thing I put my mind to I will be able to achieve it in life.

I like exploring outside my country to reach new opportunities and to leave a remarkable name for myself especially as an African.

As an aspiring Optometrist I love to reach out to the less privileged in my society to educate them on the need for a healthy eye care.

Aside from my academic activities, I engage very much in entrepreneurship hence my business (The_Fleeky_Trends)

2. What made you decide to become an Optometrist?

My primary source of motivation came from my kid brother who is currently suffering from an eye defect as a result of a traumatic eye injury he had when playing with friends.

At the point of his injury, my family didn’t have enough funds to get a well trained optometrist to keep care for his condition. Consequently, both eyes got extremely red from severe inflammation.

His Condition motivated me to study hard to become an outstanding Optometrist so I can provide him and others like him with the comprehensive primary eye care they need to make their dreams come true.

3. What Optometry school did you go to?

KNUST-Ghana, Africa

4. Where do you currently practice?

Currently, I’m a 2nd Year Student.

5. Do you offer any Specialty Services in your practice?

I’m very interested in nutrition, hence I want to focus on educating my future patients on the consequences of improper nutrition. I also want to teach them on how to identiry appropriate nutrients for healthy eyes and body.

6. Name 1 to 3 hurdles you faced in your career and how did you overcome them?

Being a traiblazer in my family as the first one to go to professional school was a challenge for me. I want to make my family proud and do well. However, there are times I wished someone else had gone before me to teach me what to do.

But in spite of the challenges, I do my very best everyday and I’m glad to have the support of my family at home and my new extended family at Optometry Divas.

7. If you could go back to when you were a student, what advice would you give yourself?

If I could go back to my early years in school I would advise myself to establish great and strong relationships with all my teachers so I could learn life tips from them as experienced individuals.
